Cross Country

Blue Jay cross country is built on pace, process, and patience. Following a science-driven regimen inspired by Norwegian distance athletes, Jesuit runners take pride in mileage before dawn, precise intervals after school, and pack running that holds together when the stakes rise.

City Park practices and races set the rhythm, and undeniable local, state, and national performances confirm the standard: an emphasis on self-improvement that generates depth through the lineup and strong finishes in November.

Jesuit has won four consecutive LHSAA Division I team championships (2021–2024), including a then-record-low 22 points in 2021 and a perfect 15 in 2022, the only perfect score ever recorded in Louisiana Division I history.

These results reflect disciplined pack running and course management. District success at City Park has continued, with titles in recent seasons and the regional meet staged on the same loop. Jesuit runners regularly participate in invitationals such as Nike Cross Regionals South, keeping themselves tested against broader competition. The program’s through line is consistent: build the aerobic base, execute the workout, race as a unit, finish the job.
