Blue Jays Fall to Purple Knights in Valero Christmas Classic Final

Generic-Jesuit-Basketball_IMG_0148-2015The Jesuit basketball team lost to St. Augustine, 45-30, in the Valero Christmas Classic championship game. The game was played on Saturday, Dec. 20, at Chalmette High School.

The Purple Knights led at the half 20-14. St. Augustine forward Charles Brown scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half. Brown was named MVP of the tournament.

Senior Trey LaForge finished with a dozen points for the Jays, who will take a few days off before heading to Washington, D.C. to compete against other Jesuit schools at a tournament in the nation’s capital.

Jesuit advanced to the finals by beating East Ascension in the opening round and host Chalmette in a semi-final game.

LaForge, senior Paul Kohnke, and senior Foster Moreau, who missed the finale with a shoulder injury, made the all-tournament team.
