The Blue Jay Marching Band and Jayettes earned Superior and Excellent ratings in the Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA) District VI Marching Assessment Festival at Joe Yenni Stadium in Metairie on Monday, November 2. The judges rewarded the Jays and Jayettes for their many hours of hard work, several of which were in the rain on Halloween, with Superior ratings for the Drum Majors, Jayettes, and Drum Line, and an Excellent rating for the Band.

The band performed their 2015 show entitled The History of Rock. The performance began with Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles, followed by a medley of Led Zeppelin songs, a drum-line feature inspired by the Rush tune YYZ, and closed with the Foo Fighters’ Everlong and a surprise pyrotechnic display. The Blue Jay Marching Band is led by senior Drum Majors Tristan Kilgore and Dane Castillo, and the Jayettes are led by Captain Molly Mancheski.
