Jesuit Advances to Bi-Regional Bowling Tournament
Jesuit defeated Albany 24-3 in the 2015 bowling regionals to place third in the LHSAA Regional Bowling Tournament on Monday, March 23 at AMF All-Star Lanes in Kenner.
The Blue Jays knocked out their opponent with a solid team score. The Jays started with an 8-0 lead after the first game and clinched the match by the end of the second game with an additional 7 points.
Three bowlers averaged over 200 for their three games. Senior Jared Ohle was back on track with a team-leading 621 series consisting of a 235 game and two games in the 190s. Senior Chris Ainsworth had a 608 series with a 235 game. Junior Peyton Hidalgo finished with a 607 series with a solid 222 game.
“The entire regular season is all about preparing for the playoffs,” said coach John Prejean. “If Monday was any indication of how Jesuit will bowl throughout the playoffs, I like our chances.”
Three Blue Jays were named to All-District teams, recognizing their high-average season scores: senior Ben Ainsworth, senior Jared Ohle, and junior Petyon Hidalgo.
Jesuit finished in third place in the New Orleans region and in second for district, behind Rummel.
With this win, Jesuit advances to the next round of tournament play in Baton Rouge on March 31. The time and opponent are still yet to be determined.
