Swimming Notches Seventh Win of the Season

The swimming team took their seventh straight win of the season in a cluster meet against De La Salle, Holy Cross, and Riverside Academy on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Jays took first place 10 out of 11 events.

Six individual events were won by three Blue Jay seniors, who took two apiece. Senior Michael Conrad won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle; senior Francis Plough won the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly; and senior Chris Simmons won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Junior Cade Fuxan also took first place in the 200-yard IM.

The remaining three wins were posted by the relay teams. Swimming the 200-yard freestyle relay were Francis Pough, senior Patrick Cecola, sophomore Jack Jackson, and Chris Simmons; in the 400-yard freestyle relay were senior Taylor Giorlando-Wall, Cade Fuxan, and Jack Jackson; and in the 200-yard medley relay were sophomore Noah Wilkens, junior Felix Rabito, Cade Fuxan, and Patrick Cecola.

The Jays are gearing up for a district meet on Oct. 22 at UNO.
