Welcome Week, Monday, Aug. 26, 2013
-
Willy Wonka (aka senior Jorgé Abadin) welcomes students to Candyland in the Commons.
-
The game was played by a representative from each grade: (from left) junior Nathan Cusimano, sophomore John Kemmerly, pre-freshman Jordan Tufts, senior Patrick Doell, and freshman Connor Tappel. Here, they listen to the rules of the game.
-
John Kemmerly takes his card to start the play.
-
While Willy Wonka (Jorgé Abadin) throws candy to the crowd sporadically and without warning, Jordan Tufts is about to land on the fateful Candy Cane square that will send him back to the beginning.
-
When players land on the same square the take part of an additional challenge. This one is called the Chubby Bunny challenge that involves a bag of marshmallows.
-
Connor Tappel and Patrick Doell compete by cramming as many marshmallows possible in their mouths.
-
The referee (left), senior Evan Fitzpatrick, and Oompa Loompa seniors James Licciardi, Gus Cannon, and Billy Healy oversee Nathan and Patrick in their Chubby Bunny challenge.
-
Jordan tries to guess the number of Gobstoppers in the jar and Nathan tries to intimidate him into making a bad guess.
-
John Kemmerly pulled an unlucky card and is carried back to the beginning of the game, all the time shouting, The whole game is rigged!
-
While the crowd yells of conspiracy, referee Evan Fitzpatrick cannot hold his laughter as he names the winner Jordan Tufts and the pre-freshman class.
