Rivalry Week Spirit Peaks with Honored Alumni and Pep Rally: Fight’s On

The spirit of the Jesuit-Holy Cross rivalry game was on full display throughout the week ahead of tonight’s historic game. Students gathered in Traditions Courtyard during lunch to participate in a series of activities, including spirited relays and the annual chin-up contest sponsored by the United States Marine Corps, all contributing to friendly house competition points.

The momentum continued on Thursday afternoon as the 2025 Legend of the Game, Marchant Kenney ’93, spoke to the football team at practice. He shared an inspiring message, drawing on his own experiences as a Blue Jay to impart wisdom on the importance of teamwork, dedication, and leaving a legacy on the field.

On Friday morning, the entire student body was energized by the 2025 Distinguished Military Alumnus, Lt. Col. Jared Brupbacher ’97. Speaking at morning assembly, he delivered a powerful call to action, firing up the students with his message: “Take flight, Fight, and Win. Fight’s On!”

This energy culminated in the first pep rally of the school year in the Benson Arena. Student Council president Spencer Waguespack and his fellow e-board members led the hyped crowd in cheers. Senior Austin Indest then formally introduced Kenney, who once again addressed the students, this time about the honor of participating in the historic rivalry. The rally reached its peak with the debut of a witty video from Gizzard Studios, “Jayrate,” which featured senior Cole Puneky learning to harness the Blue Jay spirit. The students left the arena fully energized and ready to cheer on the team for the evening’s matchup.
