Day 6

  • Two weeks remain in the Lenten Mission Drive to benefit the Santa Rosa Missions in Paraguay. Your donations go directly to funding the work of the mission. The two goals of the Santa Rosa Mission are to serve the physical and spiritual needs of the people of Santa Rosa by providing medicine and finances for major medical procedures, as well as offering Mass and the sacraments to the community. Thank you for your generosity.
  • Students who pre-ordered Bazaar t-shirts can pick them up during lunch in the Student Commons near the bookstore.
  • All Sodality levels will meet today during the second half of both lunches. Seniors and juniors will meet in the 2nd floor chapel. Sophomores and freshmen will meet in their normal room assignments.
  • Senior graduation announcements will be distributed by Balfour today during lunch in the auditorium. Enter through the back of the auditorium on Solomon St.
  • The 9th grade baseball team faces John Curtis this afternoon at Harahan, while the 8th grade team plays John Curtis at Delta.  Both games begin at 4:30.
  • Juniors-please check Canvas for upcoming college visits and virtual college fairs.  Tomorrow, an admissions representative from The University of South Florida (USF) will be available after-school in Room 121.  If you are interested in attending please sign up by 10pm tonight.  The sign-up form is located on Canvas, through the calendar function. 

Results:

  • This weekend, the varsity baseball team swept the Jay Patterson Shootout by defeating Denham Springs 7-2, Dutchtown 14-3, St. Amant 11-3, and Northshore 5-4.  In the game vs. St. Amant, Giovanni Licciardi, Tripp Haddad and Hayden Morris had multiple hits.  Tripp Haddad hit a homerun and Sean Cashman pitched a complete game. Against Northshore, Giovanni Licciardi hit a game winning double to score Keith Pittman and Hayden Morris with two outs in the last inning.  Ryan Porche was the winning pitcher.  
  • At Westside Lanes on the Westbank, the varsity bowling team set a new school record Thursday, March 11, beating Patrick Taylor, 24-3. In 18 games, the Jays knocked down 3,951 pins, 128 more than the old school record. Senior Ben Hunn and juniors Luke Wood and Gary Sims all broke the 250 mark with Sims posting the highest score of the day, a 264. He also had the high series of the day, a 744. Senior Michael McGovern recorded a pair of 200-plus games as did sophomores Will Adams and Will Carpenter. The bowling team is now 8-1.
  • The Jesuit Lacrosse team won a key matchup this weekend in Baton Rouge beating the Catholic High Bears 16-8. Senior attack Andrew Brown had 6 goals and 1 assist, and senior midfielders Dickson Chamberlain and Jack Unger each had 4 goals and 2 assists. Senior attack Evan Centola added 3 assists. JVA also notched a win over Brother Martin, 13-1.
  • The Jesuit Rugby Team hosted St. Pius High School from Houston this past Saturday.  The two teams attended Mass together on Saturday and then faced off for a thrilling match under the lights at Marconi.  The Jays scored early and often, besting St. Pius 43-19.
  • Two varsity tennis teams placed 11th & 14th in the top draw against very strong competition at the McGill-Toolen Invite in Mobile. Both squads combined for 34 singles & doubles match wins with 3 narrow team losses by the score of 4-5. Sophomore Nicolas Kapusta went undefeated in 4 singles & 4 doubles matches for the top squad!
