Summer Camp 2016 Registrations Open; Programs Available for Boys and Girls

With the summer months just around the corner, now is the time to begin planning for summer camps. Jesuit offers several opportunities for youth ages 5-14 to spend the summer exploring academics and athletics with some of the most respected teachers and coaches in the New Orleans area. Discover what summer camps await you at Jesuit!

Summer Day Camp

Jesuit offers a fun-filled summer day camp for boys ages 5-12. Summer Day Camp hours are from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Before and after care is available. Register online using a credit or debit card, or print and submit a paper registration form to pay by check.

Early registration ends on Friday, May 15 at 4 p.m. Any registrations received after that time will be charged a one-time late fee of $50. Registration closes on Friday, May 29 at 4 p.m.

Three- or six-week programs are available. The full Six-Week Day Camp runs from June 1 – July 10. There are two Three-Week Day Camp sessions that run from June 1 – June 19 and June 22 – July 10. Campers can also choose to attend weekly for an additional cost. Discounts for siblings are available.

Camp activities include: field trips and tours, swimming, bowling, softball, kickball, Laser Tag, movies, field trips, flag football, basketball, picnics, and more!

New This Year: Wrestling Clinic at Summer Day Camp

For the first time this year, boys ages 9-12 will have the option to attend a wrestling clinic held by Jesuit wrestling head coach Sheridan Moran. The clinic will be held during Weeks 1 and 2 only during afternoon field play. This clinic is optional and only open to boys ages 9-12. To attend the wrestling clinic, select this option when you fill out the Day Camp registration form.

Athletics & Academics Camps

Jesuit offers academic and athletic camps for boys and girls ages 6-14. Age levels vary by camp. (Some camps are only offered to boys. Check listings for more details.) Enjoy a summer exploring academics and athletics with some of the area’s most respected teachers and coaches.

Blue Jay Baseball Camp

Blue Jay Baseball Camp will help improve individual skills and gives boys ages 6-12 an opportunity to have fun and learn the game “the Blue Jay way.” Jesuit staff will teach the proper baseball techniques in a positive learning environment. Baseball Camp is held at Jesuit’s John Ryan Stadium. Session I is June 22-25. Session II is July 13-16. Both sessions run from 8 a.m. to noon each day.

Jesuit Basketball Camps

Jesuit offers several basketball camps for varying age groups. All camps offer daily instruction of fundamentals and campers will receive a camp t-shirt. Register early; some basketball camps have a limit of campers and registration will be closed when the limit is reached. Camp dates and times vary. See listing for full details on each camp dates/times.

New This Year: More Basketball Camp Options

This year boys ages 5-8 can attend the brand new JayKids Camp. The camp offers the same instruction and fundamentals as Jesuit’s other basketball camps, but tailored to young boys.

Blue Jay Football Camp

Blue Jay Football Camp, for boys ages 7-14, features non-contact offensive drills, non-contact defensive drills, non-contact special team drills, intro to strength training, stretching and flexibility routines, intro to speed training drills, and a guest speaker. Sibling discounts are available. There is only one football camp session: July 25 – July 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Blue Jay Lacrosse Camp

Two sessions of Blue Jay Lacrosse Camp will be held this summer — for boys in rising 4th – 6th grades and rising 7th – 9th grades. Both camps designed to help the beginner through advanced players. Whether your son is new or has been playing, our training is designed to help him take the next step towards advancing his game. We begin with sound fundamentals, increase game awareness and understanding, work on position play and include shooting as we progress to entire team play. Blue Jay Soccer Camp

For boys ages 9-18, the Blue Jay Soccer Camp gives soccer players technical and tactical training, in a fun, learning atmosphere. Late registrations (after July 11) will incur a $15 fee. There is only one session of soccer camp: July 25 – 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Camp is held at Jesuit’s John Ryan Stadium.

Jesuit Fun with Science Camp

This science summer camp for boys and girls entering grades 5-8 covers a large spectrum of life and physical science. Topics covered will be microbiology, astronomy, meteorology, and physics. Lab activities will accompany each section. Register early; the camp maximum is 25 students. Registration will be closed once maximum is reached. Camp will take place on July 11 – 14 from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.

Blue Jay Study Skills Camp

The Study Skills Camp for boys and girls in grades 5-9 investigates a student’s individual learning style and introduces them to a diverse number of study skills. Students will complete a multiple intelligence inventory to determine his learning style. There will be instruction on different study tactics for each learning style. The class will include instruction on note taking skills, time-management, and general test- taking skills. There are two sessions: July 6-9 and July 13-16. Both sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon.
