Senior Paul Kohnke drives for two of his 12 points in Jesuit’s 55-50 win over Rummel in final district home game for the seniors.

Jesuit’s five seniors, Evan Duhon, Danny Farrelly, Paul Kohnke, Trey LaForge, and Foster Moreau, took the ball and ran with it on Senior Night (Feb. 10) in the Birdcage. They all played in the first quarter and took the Blue Jays to a 12 – 8 lead to help Jesuit finish against Rummel with a 55-50 win.

Jesuit (15-8, 5-3) and Rummel (19-9, 4-4) entered the game tied for third in District 5A. With the Blue Jays’ win and Brother Martin’s loss to St. Augustine, the Jays are now tied with the Crusaders (19-8, 4-3) for second in the Catholic League.

The Blue Jays were up in both the first and second, and went into halftime with 24-18 lead. The Raiders edged up in the third and challenged the Jays point-for-point in the final. Down the stretch, critical free throws posted by sophomore Chris Beebe (who hit seven FTs) and senior Trey LaForge helped to hold back the Raiders for the win.

LaForge led team scoring with 18 points and two assists; and senior Foster Moreau added 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Senior Paul Kohnke recorded 12 points and three assists.

Jesuit will travel to play Holy Cross on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. Follow game action live on Twitter @bluejay_hoops.
