Mothers and Sons Connect with Each Other and History at Mass & Breakfast
More than 600 mothers and sons attended Jesuit’s 2015 Mother-Son Mass & Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Mass took place at Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church on Baronne Street, and was celebrated by ICJC pastor Fr. Frank Reale. The liturgy was concelebrated by Jesuit High School president Fr. Anthony McGinn and Frs. Norman O’Neal, Donald Saunders, John Brown, and Kevin Dyer, all members of the Society of Jesus.
“Welcome home,” said Fr. Reale as he welcomed his guests, pointing out that Jesuit High School as we know it today began on Baronne Street in 1847 before moving to Mid-City in 1926.
Before the final blessing, two students talked about their relationships with their mothers: senior J.R. Malbrough honored his mother, Shirley, while classmate Noah Billeaud paid tribute to his mother, Mary.
A delicious breakfast consisting of yogurt parfait, scrambled eggs, hearty strips of bacon, cubed potatoes, asparagus spears, and cherry tomatoes followed Mass in The Roosevelt New Orleans’ Crescent City Ballroom.
Jesuit’s Father-Son Mass & Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16.
