Jesuit Downs Shaw 68-40 to End Regular Season
After a slow start, Jesuit dominated the scoreboard to defeat Shaw 68-40 on the road in the final District 9-5A game of season.
Seniors Trey LaForge and Foster Moreau posted double-doubles to help create the wide spread in the score. LaForge led the Jays with 26 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Moreau’s 17 points and 18 rebounds. Junior Rob Weiss contributed nine toward the win.
The Blue Jays (16-8, 6-4) momentarily trailed the Eagles 14-13 in the first quarter, but overcame the deficit in a big way adding 24 points in the second. The turn-around gave the Jays a more-than-comfortable 37-19 lead at the half. Jesuit’s focus on rebounds paid off in multitudes and helped the team lead in scoring through the second half for the win.
Jesuit is seeded 15th in latest unofficial LHSAA Power Points as of Feb. 17 and is set for playoff action. Playoff details will be announced at a later date.
Update (Feb. 23): Jesuit is seeded 18th in the unofficial LHSAA Power Points as of Feb. 22 and will travel to Mandeville for a Bi-District game on Friday. Time is TBA.
