In the 54th minute, José Aleman lobs a pass to Braden Brignac (26) whose flick header sends the ball ricocheting just inside the near post, a perfectly placed goal and an impossible shot to defend.
José Aleman scored twice and Chase Rushing and Braden Brignac each hit one goal to lead Jesuit to a decisive 4-1 win over Newman on Saturday afternoon at John Ryan Stadium. It was the sixth consecutive win for the district champion Blue Jays whose in-state record is 17-0-3.
Prior to the start of Saturday’s match, the annual Senior Day took place where Jesuit’s eight senior players were introduced along with their parents.
The Jays take to the road Monday, Feb. 2, to close out their regular season in Houma where they will play Vandebilt Catholic. Kickoff is 6:45 p.m.
The playoffs begin this weekend with the LHSAA expected to release Division 1 brackets on Tuesday.

The second half is underway and in the 49th minute, the Greenies get on the scoreboard. Jesuit goalie Otto Candies puts a glove on the ball and momentarily prevents the ball from going in. But the Greenies are quick to follow-up and with Candies on the ground, it's an easy tap-in for Newman's only goal of the match.
