Golfers Finish Third in Regional Tournament, Glorioso Takes Second Overall
The Jesuit golf team has extra reason to feel blessed this Easter season. All 14 members of the talented squad traveled to South Carolina to participate in The Palmetto High School Golf Championship. The event took place on three courses in Myrtle Beach on April 2-4.
Jesuit’s A team, which included Grant and Grayson Glorioso; Nolan Lambert; Sean Donovan; and J.T. Holmes, finished third in the Championship Flight of the tournament with a two-day score of 602.
Junior Grant Glorioso finished second among all golfers with a two-day total of 142, just three shots behind the individual champ. Glorioso opened with an impressive round of 74, which he followed with a blistering four-under par 68.
Head coach Owen Seiler ’75, who uses the trip to bring his players closer together and to prepare for the state playoffs, appreciated his team’s focus and attitude.
“Our guys competed hard to post their best score of the year against some of the best competition they’ll face, and they did it on some of the toughest courses in the country,” Seiler said.
Jesuit’s B team finished 4th in First Flight competition.
The Jays return to action on Tuesday, April 7, against Brother Martin. Tee time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Lakewood Golf Club.
