Junior Grant Glorioso shot an even-par 72 to lead the Blue Jay golf team to a first place finish at the District 4 golf tournament on Monday, April 20. The ten-team event took place on the 6,500-yard Oak Course at Beau Chene Country in Mandeville.
The Blue Jays, who shot a combined 321, finished two strokes ahead of rival St. Paul’s (323). Brother Martin (336) and Fontainebleau (340) were the other two teams to qualify for next week’s LHSAA Regional Tournament.
Other scores that counted toward Jesuit’s team total were Sean Donovan’s 80, Carlo Carino’s 83, and Nolan Lambert’s 86. Grayson’s Glorioso’s 87 was discarded. The alternate on this year’s playoff squad is J.T. Holmes.
A steady wind factored into the higher-than-usual scores, but Jesuit’s coaches, nor their golfers used the conditions as an excuse.
“We’re not pleased with our performance today, but we are happy to advance to the next round,” said head coach Owen Seiler ’75.
The LHSAA Division I – Region II Tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at Carter Plantation Golf Club near Hammond. Play starts at 8:30 a.m.
