Bowling Takes Loss to Crusaders, Advances to Regional Match

Jesuit bowling suffered a 21-6 loss to Brother Martin in the on March 19 at AMF All-Star Lanes in Kenner, but finished its regular season with a winning 9-3 record.

In the first game, Brother Martin knocked down a season-high 1340 pins with six bowlers to win it 8-0, putting Jesuit 257 pins behind. Blue Jays improved their scores over the next two games, but trailed in games and pins. Senior Ben Ainsworth had a solid 649 series consisting of a 223, 213, and 213. Senior Chris Ainsworth was only three pins behind his brother, posting a 246 series with games of 246 and 206. Senior Brett Lorio scored a 203, senior Stephen Browning a 211, and junior Peyton Hidalgo a 217.

As the last game of the season, the team celebrated senior day, recognizing seniors and their parents for all their contributions to the team. Seniors Ben Ainsworth, Chris Ainsworth, Stephen Browning, Brett Lorio, and Jared Ohle will leave the team with five sets of proverbial big shoes to fill next year. 

The Jays will advance to the Regional match on Monday, March 23, as the third seed behind Brother Martin and Rummel. If the Jays win their 3:30 p.m. match, they will move on to the Bi-Regional match in Baton Rouge.
