Jesuit and Archbishop Rummel meet Friday, May 2 at John Ryan Stadium in the regional playoffs, which the LHSAA has given a new twist this season. This will be the first time in which the regional playoff games, as well as next week’s quarterfinals, sport a new “best-of-3 games” format.

The Jays are seeded #3 and will host the Raiders (seeded #19) for either two or all three games this weekend. The first pitch in Friday’s game at the Ryan is 6:30 p.m. Game 2 on Saturday, May 3 begins at 2 p.m. and, if necessary, Game 3 will be played at 7:30 p.m.

A large crowd is expected to be on hand to witness the two rivals battle it out for the chance to advance to next weekend’s quarterfinals. Admission for each game is $5 for adults, students, and children (ages 6-11). Student IDs and season passes will not be accepted at the gate for any of the playoff games.

The Jays (28-5) have so far shut out the Raiders twice this season in district games. Jesuit hopes to keep it that way. In their first meeting on March 25, the Jays won, 3-0; on April 19, the Jays emerged with a 6-0 win.

SportsNOLA.com, Louisiana’s leading independent sports web site, will offer a live video stream of Game 1 of the Jesuit – Rummel series. If Game 3 is necessary Saturday, May 3, SportsNOLA.com and WGSO 990 AM will both offer coverage. Links to the live video streams on SportsNOLA.com will be made available at the top of the web site’s home page shortly before game time.
