Tennis Takes Victory Over Newman, 6-0
The varsity tennis team was once again victorious yesterday at the UNO Tennis Center, defeating Isidore Newman’s team 6-0, with one doubles match suspended due to darkness.
Singles winners were senior Jordan Lacoste (8-5), junior Gregory Suhor (8-1), senior Andrew Tufts (8-2), and sophomore Brandon Beck (8-0). Jordan will savor his win over Princeton Carter, who is regarded as the best player in the city.
Doubles winners were sophomores Jonathan and Jacob Niehaus (8-0) and Gregory Suhor/Brandon Beck (8-1). The doubles match of seniors Kevin Mickan and Andrew Tufts was suspended 5-7 due to darkness.
The Blue Jays are now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play. They will enjoy a few weeks hiatus from competition and return to play a district match versus St. Augustine on Thursday, March 20.
