Event organizer Howard Maestri ’64 and honoree, legendary coach Kevin Trower

Legendary New Orleans prep coach Kevin Trower ’52 was honored on Thursday, Jan. 16 for his many years of service at several area schools. Organized by Howard Maestri ’64, one of Coach Trower’s baseball players at Jesuit, the event drew more than 250 former players, other area coaches, and family and friends to the Jesuit High School Student Commons. Testimonials came from representatives of Jesuit, Holy Cross, St. John Prep, De La Salle, Chapelle, Ecole Classique, and Rummel, all schools at which Trower coached, taught, or assisted. A special tribute came from Coach Trower’s former student Mayor Mitch Landrieu ’78.
