Retif Oil Polishes Off Patriots in 5 Innings, 10-0

Retif Oil scored seven runs in the 2nd inning and added three more in the 4th to trigger the 10-run rule in an American Legion game Friday against the John Curtis Patriots at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Retif’s 10-0 win was the fifth win against one loss of the young summer American Legion season.
Retif pitchers Jack Burk and Glynn Hyer were an effective 1-2 punch with Hyer clocking the win, his first of the Legion season. Coach Joey Latino decided before the game to start Burk and bring in Hyer in the third inning. Burk allowed two hits and had two strikeouts and Hyer gave up only one hit while striking out three.
Catcher Trent Forshag led Retif offensively with two hits, including a double. He accounted for 4 RBIs. Alex Galy, Scott Crabtree, and Matt Cedro all singled and each had 2 RBIs.

Retif plays Peake BMW (Brother Martin) Monday, June 9 at Kirsch-Rooney. First pitch is 7 p.m.
Retif plays a make-up game against Ponstein’s (Holy Cross) Tuesday, June 10 at Kirsch-Rooney. First pitch is 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, June 11, Retif faces Ray Brandt Auto Group (DeLaSalle) at Kirsch-Rooney. First pitch is 5 p.m.
On Thursday, June 12, Retif returns to John Ryan Stadium to play Townsend Homes (St. Charles Catholic). First pitch is 5 p.m.
Retif Oil players, coaches, and chaperones leave Friday for San Jose, CA to play in a weekend tournament hosted by (Jesuit) Bellarmine High School.
