Nick Ray charges a grounder in Retif Oil’s 5-3 loss to Peake BMW on Tuesday, July 2. Despite Retif losing the City Series Championship, the top two teams – Peake and Retif – advance to the American Legion’s Southeast Tournament, which begins Saturday, July 5 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Retif Oil lost the battles but they’re still in the war. Retif lost the championship for the City Series – twice – to Peake BMW (Brother Martin), but the two teams that emerge from the City tournament move on to play in the Southeast Regional.

The S.E. Regional Tournament begins Saturday, July 5, with Retif meeting Otto Candies (Hahnville) at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. First pitch is 3:30 p.m.

Retif lost the City Championship in the 9th inning on Tuesday, July 2, to Peake, 5-3. The game was necessitated by Retif’s 6-5 loss a day earlier. (The Legion tournaments are double elimination.)

Retif brings a 13-6 record to the tournament.
