Retif Oil In Driver’s Seat All the Way Against Ray Brandt

Retif Oil’s Brandon Briuglio (5) is tagged at home plate by the pitcher for Ray Brandt Auto Group in a Wednesday evening American Legion game at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. Briuglio was on third base when a wild pitch got away from the catcher, who retrieved the ball and flipped it to his pitcher for the tag at the plate. Retif was in the catbird’s seat the whole game and drove off with an 8-1 win.

Mason Mayfield and Sean Bretz pitched a combined no-hittter, striking out a total of 16 batters in Retif Oil’s 8-1 win over Ray Brandt Auto Group in an American Legion District 1 game Wednesday at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
Mayfield started on the mound for Retif and pitched four hitless innings to earn his first win of the season. He had seven strikeouts. Bretz pitched the last three hitless innings and struck out nine batters.
Retif’s bats were hot with catcher Trent Forshag leading the way with three singles and three RBIs. Outfielders Scott Crabtree, Brandon Briuglio, and Matthew Cedro each had two singles.
Retif Oil plays Otto Candies (Hahnville) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at John Ryan Stadium. The game is preceded by Junior Legion baseball.
