New Members Inducted at Annual Sodality Mass
Members of the Sodality of Our Lady gathered for their annual induction Mass on Tuesday, March 25 in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs. Fr. John Brown, S.J., the director of Sodality, celebrated the Mass for Sodalists and their families. In his homily, he encouraged those gathered to imitate Mary in being open to God’s grace because it is what their hearts are made for.
During the Mass, 20 new members made their commitments for the year, kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament. Each member also received the new edition of the Sodality manual, a printed guide to assist with keeping the regular commitments. Each Sodalist commits himself to daily prayer, weekly meetings, attendance at one Mass per week outside of his regular Sunday obligation, monthly participation in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and a monthly act of service to those in need.
Sodality Prefect and senior Thomas Nimmo enjoyed the induction Mass. “In addition to spending time with the underclassmen and fellow seniors on our recent Sodality retreat, I also enjoyed getting to know the new freshmen coming in,” Nimmo said. “Just knowing the level of character and spirituality growth that is happening in these young men has made me very proud to lead the Sodality, and I was proud and blessed to induct these new members. It gives me great hope for the future of Sodality.”
