Jesuit Yields Final District Game to St. Augustine, 41-33

Senior Grant Nichols led with eight against St. Augustine, but the Purple Knights blocked the Jays’ chance of a winning season.

The Jesuit basketball team closed out a successful regular season with a tough loss to the St. Augustine Purple Knights Tuesday night in the Birdcage. The Jays started off strong, but a late push by the Purple Knights gave them the late lead and the win.
Senior Grant Nichols led the Jays with eight points, while junior Trey Laforge scored seven and junior Foster Moreau added six. Despite a strong effort on the defensive end, the Jays couldn’t hit enough shots to keep pace with St. Augustine.
Prior to tip-off, Jesuit celebrated Senior Night with special recognition of seniors and their parents. This was the last home game for seniors Jack Hebert, Chase Eckholdt, Grant Nichols, Riley Conroy, Brett Spansel and Connor Gillen.
Jesuit finishes the season 17-11 overall and 5-5 in district play. The Blue Jays will wait to hear the official bi-district pairings for District 5A state playoffs from LHSAA later this week. Follow Twitter.com/bluejay_hoops for updates.
