Jays Shut Out Rummel, 6-0, to Go Up One Game in Best of 3 Series

Seven Blue Jays scattered 10 hits in a 6-0 shutout of Rummel on Friday, May 2 in Game 1 of a three-game regional playoff series at John Ryan Stadium.
The #3 seeded Jays (29-5) and #19 seeded Raiders play Game 2 on Saturday, May 3 at 2 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
In going up one game on the Raiders, Jesuit used a big third inning to score four runs. The Jays scored one run in the second and fourth innings. This marks the third time this season Jesuit has shut out Rummel.
C.J. Avrard picked up the win to improve his record to 8-1. Avrard pitched six innings, allowed five hits and struck out eight Raiders. Christian Latino closed the game in the 7th inning, giving up one hit and striking out two batters.
Blake Baker (2B), Nathan Zimmer (CF), and Trent Forshag (C) enjoyed another big night for the Jays with two hits each. Baker and Zimmer had two singles while Forshag singled and doubled. Zimmer and Forshag each had two RBIs. Knocking singles around Alumni Field were Alex Galy (SS), Scott Crabtree (LF), Spencer Miller (RF, 3B), and Dan Edmund (1B). Stephen Sigle (DH) accounted for one RBI.
