Beginning on Thursday, March 20, the Banks Street entrance to the school yard will reopen to traffic. At that time the Palmyra Street gate will return to its usual configuration as the exit for all campus traffic. The Palmyra St. gate will no longer be used as an entrance and all traffic arriving on campus will enter at Banks St.

The construction project on Banks St. resulted in some roadway changes, including the addition of a bike lane on both sides of Banks St. between S. Carrollton Ave. and S. Patrick St. From S. Carrollton Ave. to S. Hennessey St., it is a shared bike lane. From S. Hennessey to S. Patrick Street, the road has been reduced to one traffic lane and a dedicated bike lane.

The project included resurfacing, pavement patching, curb repair, and installation of ADA-compliant accessible ramps at corners. The improvements were part of the Paths to Progress program, a state and federal initiative to restore Jefferson and Orleans parish roadways.
