Senior Trey LaForge pumped in 27 points — 11 of them in the second period — to lead the Blue Jay basketball team over Yarra Valley (Melbourne, Australia), 70-29. The game was played on Thursday, Dec. 11 in round two of the Newman Invitational.

Sophomore Hunt Conroy had 14, while senior Foster Moreau added 13 from the five spot. Other Blue Jay scorers were junior Rob Weiss (7), Evan Duhon (5) and Danny Farrelly (4). Duhon and Farrelly are seniors. Moreau and Weiss tallied 9 rebounds apiece.

In opening round play, the Jays lost to East St. John, 50-45. The victory over Yarra Valley gives the Jays a season mark of 3-2.

Jesuit faces Hahnville on Friday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m. in Newman’s Palestra gym.

The Blue Jays are coached by Chris Jennings ’78, who is assisted by coach Wesley Laurendine.
