Blue Jays Storm Past Shaw, 65-44
An impending blast of arctic air did nothing to cool down the Blue Jay basketball team which cruised to a resounding 65-44 win against westbank rival Archbishop Shaw. The game, which was moved up one day because of a projected winter storm, saw the Blue Jays get out to a hot start as they took a 41-13 halftime lead behind the pinpoint shooting of junior Foster Moreau who ended up with a game high 20 points.
The Jays kept the defensive heat on Shaw in the third quarter, holding the Eagles to 12 points in the quarter and leading by as many as 33 points. The big lead allowed Jesuit to empty its bench during the fourth quarter as 10 players ended up scoring for the Blue Jays. Junior Trey LaForge played a key role in the victory with 14 points.
The victory pushed Jesuit’s record to 14-8 overall and 2-2 in district play with an upcoming game at St. Augustine this Friday night at 7 p.m. St. Augustine defeated Shaw by 27 points two weeks ago. Follow game action live at Twitter.com/bluejay_hoops.
