Jesuit Blue Jays played the Strake Jesuit Holy Crusaders in Houston on Friday, Feb. 21.

Jesuit Blue Jays played the Strake Jesuit Fighting Crusaders in Houston on Friday, Feb. 21.

The varsity tennis team traveled to Houston, Texas, Feb. 20-21 to face Strake Jesuit, pitting two equally strong Jesuit programs against one another. Our Blue Jay team defeated the Strake Holy Crusaders 7 matches to 5, with singles wins from junior Alex Depascual, sophomore Jonathan Niehaus, and junior Gregory Suhor. Doubles victories were also secured by sophomore Jacob Niehaus, sophomore Brandon Beck, senior Kevin Mickan, senior Andrew Tufts, sophomore Andrew Nguyen, and sophomore Griffin Pels.

The Jays (3-0, 1-0) was scheduled to play a district match against Brother Martin on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at UNO, but the game has been postponed.
