Blue Jay Golfers Open Spring District by Rolling the Raiders
Under sunny skies and in chilly temperatures, the Blue Jay golf team easily defeated Archbishop Rummel on Tuesday, March 18 at Timberlane Country Club in Gretna. Jesuit won its spring district opener, 149-169.
Senior Will Myers led the way with a nine-hole total of 34. Junior Francis Plough shot a 37. Senior Joe McAloon’s 38 and sophomore Carlo Carino’s 40 rounded out the scoring for the Jays. Sophomore Jonathan Cedro’s 41 and freshman Nolan Lambert’s 43 were discarded. This is Cedro’s first year on the team.
Sophomore Grant Glorioso (33) and seniors Alex Anderson (36), Cole Johnson (41), Will Dufour (34), and C.J. Blagrove (39) played practice rounds. Dufour and Blagrove, who helped head coach Owen Seiler ’75 choose Tuesday’s team, are serving as captains for the 2013-2014 season.
The Jays return to action on Thursday, March 20 against Archbishop Shaw at Stonebridge Country Club in Gretna. Tee time is 4 p.m.
