Big Brothers Welcome Newest Blue Jays to the Nest

A flock of Big Brothers welcome their Little Brothers from the classes of 2018 and 2019 to Carrollton and Banks on Welcome Day.
Rising junior and senior Big Brothers gathered at Carrollton and Banks on Saturday, May 10 to greet their Little Brothers during Welcome Day for New Students.
After meeting each other in classrooms, the soon-to-be students and their veteran chaperones moved to the auditorium for a presentation, slide show, and video.
Making brief presentations were admissions director Bret Hanemann ’85, principal Peter Kernion ’90, and Jesuit president Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J. ’76.
Hanemann told the Class of 2019 and about 30 new members of the Class of 2018 that they had earned their spots at Jesuit.
Kernion urged the group to make as many new friends as possible and to get involved in co-curriculars early.
Fr. Fitzgerald challenged the young men to help “shape, transform, and improve” the school that thousands of alumni are proud to call their alma mater.

President Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J. and admissions director Bret Hanemann ’85 assist Big Brother Foster Moreau and his Little Brothers Ben Willis and Rayvon Bellazon with a Welcome Day history-based scavenger hunt.
Then 2015 student body president Joseph Dupre ’16 and 2015 executive board secretary Michael McMahon ’15 used a slide show to introduce the Little Brothers to the history and tradition of the school.
Two music videos gave the students a glimpse of Blue Jay Spirit, something administrators will encourage them to embrace and nurture.
After the auditorium presentations, Big Brothers and Little Brothers participated in a scavenger hunt that helped the younger Jays gain an appreciation for the history of the school and its campus.
The two-hour program concluded with hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies, and soft drinks in Traditions Courtyard.
