Jesuit’s varsity basketball team suffered a 42-39 loss in the bi-district round of the state playoffs to Ruston on Feb. 2.

The Blue Jays outscored the Bearcats in the first half, but lost their footing in the second. The Jays fought hard in the final quarter to keep the score tight through the last minute of the game. Ultimately a three-pointer by Ruston and a turnover by Jesuit determined the game in the Bearcats’ favor.

Leading the scores for the Jays were junior Trey LaForge with 15 points, junior Foster Moreau with 10 points and 15 assists, and senior Grant Nichols with eight points.

Jesuit entered the playoffs as the 21st seed after finishing the 2013-2014 regular season 17-11 overall and 5-5 in district play. Ruston is the 12th seed.
