Summer’s Gone and It’s a New School Year for Blue Jays

The first full day of school began with homeroom so that Blue Jays would know exactly where their class lines up at the morning assemblies, held on Mondays and Fridays.

The 2014-15 school year kicked off officially on Friday, August 15, the first full day for all 1,422 Blue Jays. This year’s student population includes 306 new students, 274 of whom are pre-freshmen.
Following homeroom period and a brief assembly in the Traditions Courtyard, the first order of business was to attend Mass in honor of the Feast of the Assumption. Blue Jays, along with faculty and staff, filled the Chapel of the North American Martyrs for the Mass, whose chief celebrant was Fr. Raymond Fitzgerald, S.J., who is now assistant to the president of the school.
Students attended each one of their seven classes. Blue Jays and their teachers who occupied any of the six classrooms on the second floor (in the Hall of Honors) were delighted with the outcome of a summer renovation project. The new classrooms sparkled clean and boast the latest in technology.
At the mid-morning break and the lunch period, Blue Jays renewed or revived existing friendships, and they made new friends.
The students return to Carrollton & Banks on Monday, Aug. 18, the start of their first full day of school.
