The 1847 Society of Jesuit High School was feted at the annual donor reception Sunday evening, Aug. 24, at The Balcony in Metairie.

Some 250 benefactors of the Society attended the reception and were warmly thanked for their loyalty and generosity to the school by an appreciative Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J. ’66, president of Jesuit.

Members who constitute the 1847 Society each donated between $500 and $2,999 during Jesuit’s 2014 fiscal year, which began July 1, 2013 and ended June 30, 2014.

The three current donor levels that make up the Society are:

  • The Gap Givers:  $2,757 – $2,999
  • The President’s Club:  $1,000 – $2,756
  • The Boosters Club:  $500 – $999

In addition to thanking benefactors, Fr. McGinn recognized the chairmen of two major donor campaigns — the Parents’ Annual Giving (PAG) and the Living Endowment Fund (LEF) drives. Mark Cousins ’74 headed the PAG drive during fiscal year 2014 while Rocky Daigle ’85 led the LEF campaign. Fr. McGinn also recognized Sam McAloon for her leadership of the Blue Jay Bazaar and Nancy Plough for generous service in connection with Celebration, Jesuit’s annual gala and auction.
