It was a case of déjà vu all over again as the Jesuit soccer team defeated West Jeff 5-0 on Monday. The win comes just two days after the Blue Jays downed the Buccaneers 5-1 at Alumni Field at John Ryan Stadium.

Senior Mason Belle led the Jays with two goals, while juniors Jacob Stansberry and Ethan Kramer, along with senior Sebastian Pereira-Pinzon, scored one apiece. With Monday night’s win, the team improves to 9-3-1. The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, January 12 when they take on Brother Martin at 2 p.m.

Saturday’s match-up against West Jeff was preceeded by the 4th Annual Soccer Alumni Reunion, where soccer alumni and their families were able to meet and talk with current players and their families. Also before the match, a tribute was given to honor the late Garry Ortner and the legacy he left behind. Garry served as Jesuit’s varsity soccer coach from 1994-2002, winning seven district championships, 3 state titles, and leading the 1999 soccer team to a undefeated and untied record.
