Retif Sent to Losers’ Bracket in American Legion City Series
Peake BMW (Brother Martin) handed Retif Oil its first loss of the double elimination American Legion District 1 City Series Tournament on Sunday, July 7. Retif grabbed the lead 3-1 in the top of the seventh inning but in the bottom of the eighth, gave up four runs.

Christian Latino ’14 relieved Migliore before the eighth inning was over. He entered the game with the bases loaded and two outs. Latino pitched the ninth inning without incident, but when Retif had one last chance to answer, only Mitchell Alexander would get to base. He was two for five.

Steven Sigle ’14 will catch fly balls like this one 9,999 times without any problems. But on that next fly, the ball appeared to be firmly in Sigle’s glove, only to squiggle out. The rare error in the bottom of the sixth resulted in Peake jumping out to a 1-0 lead.
