Retif Oil Slides Past Post 307, 4-3

Brandon Sequeira ’14 stops short of third base and takes two steps around the Post player who was waiting
for the throw. He is safe without sliding, a tricky feat with gloves in hand. Sequeira had two hits.
The 5-3 loss forced Retif to turn around and play Post 307 (DeLaSalle). Retif won that game, 4-3, setting up a scenario in which the boys in blue must defeat Peake twice in order to win the District title. Rain on Monday afternoon, July 8 has moved the starting time of the first game back to 7 p.m. (from 4:30 p.m.). If Retif wins, a second game will be played on Tuesday, July 9 at a location to be determined. However, if Retif loses the first game against Peake on Monday evening, the tournament is over and Peake would be the champions.
Retif has yet to win a game against Peake this season. Retif’s record is 21-6 with three of those losses dealt by Peake.
Retif and Peake both qualified to play in the Legion’s southeast regional tournament that begins Saturday, July 13.
