Retif Oil Opens 2013 Season with Two Victories

Catcher Trent Forshag ’15 fist bumps third baseman Spencer Miller ’14 after scoring in the third inning of the season opener against Shell Motiva (Destrehan) on Friday, May 24 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
The 2012 World Champions of American Legion Baseball — Retif Oil (Jesuit Blue Jays) — opened their 2013 season on Memorial Day weekend with a pair of victories.
Retif defeated Shell Motiva (Destrehan High School), 8-4, on Friday, May 24 at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium. After a two day rest, Retif traveled across the river on Sunday afternoon, May 26, to play Ray Brandt Automotive Group (John Ehret High School), emerging from the West Bank with a 4-2 win.
Against Shell Motiva, Retif drove through their own bullpen by cycling through six pitchers in a game that lasted only six innings because the maximum time limit was reached. Senior C.J. Avrard (1-0), who relieved senior Brandon Sequeira in the third inning, captured his first win.
