MCJROTC Finishes First at St. Charles Parish Drill Meet

Members of the MCJROTC program stand at ease with the trophies they earned at the St. Charles Parish Drill Competition on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The MCJROTC returned from the St. Charles Parish Annual Drill Competition with a trunk load of trophies, including one for overall champion. More than 30 cadets participated in the event which was held on Saturday, Oct. 26. Ten schools competed at Hahnville High School.

The Unarmed Drill Team, led by junior Anthony Taffaro, took 1st place in unarmed inspection, 1st place in unarmed regulation drill, and 2nd place in exhibition drill.

The Armed Drill Team, led by junior Matt Subervielle, placed 1st in armed inspection, 2nd in regulation drill, and second in armed exhibition drill.

The Second Team Color Guard, led by junior John Grieco, took third place in inspection, and the First Team Color Guard, led by senior Garrett Wolff, took 2nd in color guard drill.

In addition, the Physical Fitness Team, led by senior Ian Calamari, placed second in their competition with sophomore Ethan Rocha earning a medal for the most sit-ups. The tug-of-war team, led by junior Evan Flynn, took second place.

The MCJROTC program is moderated by Lt. Col. Tim Huete ’76 and Master Gunnery Sergent J.R. Piseno.
