Festivities for the 2013 Great American Rivalry Game between Jesuit and Holy Cross got underway at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback luncheon on Monday, Oct. 7. The weekly event is held at The Cannery in Mid-City on Mondays during football season.

Jesuit coach Wayde Keiser ’78 and Tigers coach Barry Wilson told the attendees they expect a close contest between two outstanding programs. Both coaches played in the series — Keiser for the Blue Jays in the 70s and Wilson for the Tigers in the 60s, including the state championship game against the Blue Jays in 1963. The Tigers beat the Blue Jays 14-6.

Keefe Hecker ’64, who attended the lunch as a special guest of Jesuit High School, served as captain of the 1963 Blue Jay squad. Hecker, who played defensive half-back and wing-back for the Jays, will address the Jesuit student body at morning assembly on Friday, Oct. 11.
