Jesuit’s varsity basketball team, picked to finish in the middle of the district pack, completed district play in the number one spot with an impressive 62-57 team win over the talented Brother Martin Crusaders on Monday, Feb. 11.

By winning the game against the Crusaders and sweeping their hard court rivals in district play this season, Jesuit (8-2) became the outright district champion following Chalmette’s upset win over West Jefferson, 58-57.

Earning the district title took team work throughout the season. From the starters to the players on the bench, this effort was clearly on display during this afternoon’s game. Leading the Jays in scoring against Brother Martin were sophomore Trey LaForge with 23 points, senior Matt Felger with 15 points, and senior Preston Reisig with 10 points.

Jesuit kicks off playoff action on Tuesday, Feb. 19, when they take on Central – Baton Rouge at home in the Birdcage. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is $5 each for adults, students, and children (ages 6-11). Faculty and staff IDs will be accepted at the gate.
