It was only fitting that Stuart Anderson’s first game of Jeopardy! mirror the drama of the Major League baseball game that bumped him to a late-night time slot. With all three contestants within striking distance of victory, Anderson ’01 was the only player to correctly write “What is East of Eden?” in Final Jeopardy! That answer (or should we say question) pushed Anderson over the top, earning the Air Force captain $16,801.

Anderson’s show, which was recorded earlier this year, was scheduled to run at 6 p.m. When FOX’s coverage of the Boston vs. Detroit playoff game went longer than expected, the program was pushed to 10:30 p.m. The Red Sox beat the Tigers in a nail biter, the same fashion in which Anderson vanquished his opponents.

As a student at Carrollton and Banks, Anderson helped the Blue Jay quiz bowl team win three divisional titles and a state championship.

As the Jeopardy! winner, Anderson, who is currently stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy, gets to play a second game, which will air on Wednesday, Oct. 16. In New Orleans, the program, hosted by Alex Trebek, will air on FOX 8 at 6 p.m.
