Dell Hall ’53 takes a photo of his classmates at their 2013 reunion in Traditions Courtyard.

Del Hall ’53 featured in this look at an important regional event with national attention in the Civil Rights Movement 50 years ago. Hall, a WWL-TV photographer/cameraman at the time, would go on to a career with the national big boys, CBS. Hall hangs on to a childhood habit that has served him well throughout this life – carrying a camera with him wherever he goes. Here he is seen snapping a shot of his 1953 classmates at his 60th year reunion in June.

Recently, Hall told alumni director Mat Grau an interesting Jesuit story. “Fr. Stallworth, principal, visited my 8th grade class at St. Joseph on Roman Street to charm and recruit students. He showed a booklet about Jesuit classes and programs. All I saw as he held up the book was a darkroom and enlarger. That sold me. Until then, I expected to go to Warren Easton. I did go to Jesuit, but in four years, never found that darkroom. After a couple of weeks, I and several other students had to take the entrance exam again to see what they did wrong. Maybe that’s why I avoided the honors class.”
