Cross Country Takes First Place in Country Day Classic

Senior Liam Fitzgerald, who took second place overall, makes a move toward the front of the pack at the Saturday, Oct. 12 Country Day Classic at City Park.
On a sunny Saturday, Oct. 12 at City Park’s newly-formed course, the Blue Jay Varsity Cross Country team took home first place in the Country Day Classic. The new course is made of three one-mile laps, which made for plenty of crowd interaction.
Jesuit entered two teams in the Varsity meet. Out of a field of 16 teams that included Newman, Country Day, Chalmette, St. Augustine, St. Martins and Brother Martin, Jesuit’s two teams finished first and third. Senior Liam Fitzgerald placed second overall, while senior Sean Stephens, junior Ben D’Antonio, and senior Jonathan Blanchard each finished within the top ten overall.
