Beginning as early as Monday, Nov. 25, the Banks St. entrance to the school yard will be closed to traffic. Parents and students arriving on campus should enter the school yard via the Palmyra St. entrance. The Palmyra St. entrance will serve as both the entrance and exit for all campus traffic. The closure will last for at minimum one week, likely more.

Download and print the Banks St. Entrance Closure Traffic Plan map.

Students and their parents are encouraged to carpool, if possible, to limit the number of cars arriving on campus.

Because of active work sites along Banks St., students walking to and from cars parked in the neighborhood around the school should use caution. Pedestrians should use designated sidewalks and refrain from walking in areas blocked off by construction cones.

Please follow all construction crew signs and directions. When arriving to campus, be prepared for changing traffic conditions, construction signs, traffic barrels, and men holding flags. When No Parking signs are displayed, please use the Banks Street or school yard parking lots, if possible. Violators will be towed so that crews can continue their work.

The construction project on Banks St. (from Carrollton Avenue to St. Patrick St.) includes resurfacing, pavement patching, curb repair, and installation of ADA-compliant accessible ramps at corners. Construction for the entire project, which also includes repairs on Jefferson Davis Pkwy. and Bienville St., is expected to be complete by March 2014.

The improvements come thanks to the Paths to Progress program, a state and federal initiative to restore Jefferson and Orleans parish roadways. For continual updates on construction progress, visit the Paths to Progress web site or Facebook page.
