Blue Jays Win Semi-Final Against Loyola, Will Face St. Paul’s In Rematch of Last Year’s Title Game

Lacrosse_20120429_StateChampionship_vsStPauls_002-featThe varsity lacrosse team scored five goals in two minutes on its way to whipping Loyola of Shreveport 18-7 on Saturday, Apr. 27. The man of the match was senior Kett Lobrano, who had four goals and three assists for the Jays. Seniors Brandon Barnett, Austin Triay, and Andrew Scott scored two goals each. Junior Arman Alizadeh also had a pair of goals. Junior Jorge Abadin, who was credited with eight saves, was the winning goalie. In Saturday’s other semi-final game, St. Paul’s beat St. Thomas More 12-3. The season-ending tournament is being held on the STM campus in Lafayette. The state championship game, a rematch of last year’s finale featuring the Blue Jays and Wolves, will be played on Sunday, Apr. 28. Face-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jesuit beat St. Paul’s 7-5 to win the 2012 state title.
