Blue Jays Open up Tournament Play with Victory over Lusher, 54-52
The Blue Jays began the Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Tournament with a tight 54-52 victory over the Lusher Lions. Junior Foster Moreau led the team in scoring with 21 points, while seniors Chase Eckholdt and Brett Spansel each added eight.
Jesuit led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter and increased the lead to 26-20 at halftime. Following a late rally by Lusher, the Jays found themselves tied at 52 with less than a minute left in regulation. With two seconds remaining, Foster Moreau was fouled and hit two free throws to take the lead. A last-second Lusher shot came up short, and the Blue Jays were victorious.
Jesuit continues tournament play tonight against East Jefferson starting at 7:30 in the Birdcage.
