Blue Jays Ready to Face Crusaders Again in Post-Season Opener

Here we go again. The Blue Jay football team will face cross-town rival Brother Martin in the opening round of the LHSAA 5-A Division I playoffs. Kick-off is Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Jesuit shut out the Crusaders in the regular season match-up on Nov. 1, 20-0. If the Jays beat Brother Martin again, they will face top-seeded St. Augustine the following week.

This year’s 5A post season is split into two categories: select and non-select schools.  Ten teams, including Jesuit, will compete for state championship honors in the select division. Jesuit is seeded 8th in the select division. Brother Martin is seeded 9th. Thirty-two 5A teams will compete in the non-select bracket. As in past years, winners will be crowned in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Ticket Information

Tickets for the game are available up until 4 p.m. on Friday at Jesuit’s switchboard (entrance is the blue awning on Banks Street). Pre-sale tickets for adults, students, and children (ages 6-11) are $6. All tickets purchased at the gate are $8. Student IDs and season passes will not be accepted. Jesuit is the home team so Blue Jay fans are asked to sit on the Marconi Drive side of the stadium.

Broadcast & Streaming of the Game

The game will be broadcast on WRBH Radio (88.3 FM). Danny Riehm ’00 will handle play-by-play duties with former Blue Jay coach Mark Songy providing game analysis. The pre-game show starts at 6:45 p.m. A live audio stream of the game may be accessed through the Jesuit web site.
