If a lunch meeting on Friday, September 20, is any indication, the Baton Rouge Alumni Chapter will mirror the recent success of LSU football. Alumni director Mat Grau ’68 and Tom Bagwill, who serves as Jesuit’s director of institutional advancement, met with six enthusiastic alumni at a Baton Rouge restaurant to pave the way for an organized alumni effort in the Capital City. Present were Victor Gregoire’86, Kevin Murray ’97, Pat Cuntz ’81, Kyle Huber ’09, Sheldon Perkins ’88, and Corey Cloninger ’99, who made the trip down I-10 from Lafayette. Several others, including Gordy Rush ’86 – a member of the LSU football radio team – couldn’t make the meeting, but indicated they want to assist.

“In past years, we would pull out-of-town Blue Jays together and encourage them to get back together,” said Grau. “However, without an infrastructure in place, that continued connection seldom took place. With official leadership teams in place and encouragement and support from our office of institutional advancement, these groups are thriving – with Jays keeping connected to each other and to their alma mater.”

Jesuit has active alumni chapters in Atlanta, Houston, and Tampa. Baton Rouge is expected to be up and running soon.
