Blue Jay Golfers Fall Short at State, Finish 6th

Sophomore Grant Glorioso and seniors C.J. Blagrove, Cole Johnson, Alex Anderson, and Will Dufour represented Jesuit at the LHSAA state golf tournament in Shreveport.
Jesuit finished sixth out of eight teams at the LHSAA state tournament in Shreveport. Byrd High School, playing in its own backyard, won the two day tournament which was played on May 5-6 at East Ridge Country Club with a two day score of 614. Defending state champion St. Paul’s finished second, just seven strokes back. Catholic High finished third with a score of 622.
After shooting a disappointing 329 in Monday’s opening round, Jesuit carded a 334 on Tuesday to finish at 663.
Sophomore Grant Glorioso led all Blue Jay golfers with a combined individual score of 158. Glorioso shot a 76 on Tuesday, an improvement of six strokes over Monday’s round. The other four starters — all seniors — struggled. Alex Anderson finished with a two day score of 169, Cole Johnson tallied a 170, and C.J. Blagrove and Will Dufour posted 171s. The highest score on each team is discarded.
Other team scores included were St. Thomas More (628), West Monroe (644), Mandeville (676), and Airline (695).
While the Blue Jays leave Shreveport disappointed, they will cherish their first place finish at the Division I (Districts 3 & 4) regional tournament on April 29 at Carter Plantation in Springfield, a regular season district title, and numerous individual accomplishments throughout the 2013-2014 season.
